Modern Folksy Bunny Pattern Winner!!

patchwork

I've had a lot of custom orders lately for patchwork items. It's always a fun look!!!

I used a charm pack of Vintage Modern for all of the patchwork.  I cut all of the charms into 2 1/2" squares so that everything would be even.  Then, for the mini list taker and the zippy pouch, I cut them down to 2 inches so that nothing would get cut off and so that the scale was a little more appropriate for the smaller items.  
The bag is a pattern by Michelle from Keyka Lou.  Unfortunately, it is one of the patterns that she retired but I think the bracelet bag would look SO awesome in patchwork!!!

My adorable friend Virginia from Gingercake has designed an adorable new pattern just in time for Easter! It's so super cute!  The modern folksy bunny is perfect for little hands to play with and heads to rest on.

I got a chance to make one over the weekend using the Walk in the Woods fabric and I think it turned out so cute!

The pattern was so well written (as all of her patterns are), it has lots of great pictures so that you can see each step.  The whole thing, including choosing my fabrics, took less than 2 hours.

This would make such a cute baby gift and would, of course, be a great addition to an Easter basket!!

I didn't add eyes, the pattern uses buttons for eyes, because I may give this little cutie as a baby gift and the buttons would, obviously, not be appropriate for a little one.  I like it without the eyes too though, it's simple and clean, but you could also embroider eyes on with embroidery floss if you wanted.

new chicks

We got a few new chicks here at our house at the end of last week, 14 to be exact.  They sure are fuzzy and soft!

They have to be in 90 degree conditions for the first few weeks.  It's still pretty cool here so, for now, they have to be in the house.  They also have to be under a heat lamp.  The girls are loving them!!!  Penelope checks on them ever 10 minutes or so, just to make sure they are ok.  :)

I did get a little sewing done this week!  I was asked by a very sweet customer to make some keychain clutches.  I love this pattern!!  It's quick and fun to sew and they really are so very cute!

They are also really great for showing off a cool button!  This would be a perfect project to use vintage buttons on, the clutch is small enough to allow the button to really be showcased.  These will be going up in the shop sometime this week.

shop update

I've gotten a lot of new goodies in this week in the shop!  A walk in the woods by the fabulous Aneela Hoey is here!!  It's so adorable!!!!!
